Representatives of Rome-based Photographic Archives

Visit of a group of archivists at ICCROMOn 25 October, two groups of representatives of photographic archives of Rome-based institutions visited ICCROM Archives.  Representatives included the American Academy in Rome; Bibliotheca Hertziana; Sapienza University of Rome; Fondazione Marco Besso; and Institutions of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, including The Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation, The Museum of Prehistory and Ethnography “Luigi Pigorini”, National Institute of Archaeology and History of Art – INASA (Palazzo Venezia); German Archaeological Institute in Rome etc.

CNR-ICVBC

visit of a group of trainees from CNR ICVBCOn 12 October, a group of trainees attending the course on Innovation in Intelligent Management of Heritage Buildings visited ICCROM.  The course is organised by CNR-ICVBC, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – Istituto per la Conservazione e la Valorizzazione dei Beni Culturali, Italy.
The group was welcomed by Paul Arenson, Manager, Knowledge and Communication Services.

International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics (ICCM)

Signing of a MOU between ICCM and ICCROMOn 12 October, ICCROM’s Director-General, Dr Stefano De Caro, received the visit of Roberto Nardi, President of the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics (ICCM), in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between ICCROM and ICCM.

Delegation from Yuncheng City, Shanxi, China

Delegation from Yuncheng City, Shanxi, ChinaOn 27 September, ICCROM received the visit of a delegation of six high-level professionals from Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, China. The goal was to discuss issues of common interest including the protection and restoration of stone historical relics as well as to foster relations between the Yuncheng Cultural Relics and Tourism Bureau and ICCROM.

FICLU (Federazione Italiana Club e Centri Unesco)

On 7 September ICCROM hosted the meeting of the Evaluation Commission of the 8th edition of the FICLU Competition “Factory in the Landscape”.  This contest is open to public and private projects dealing with landscape and the environment, and promotes awareness on the importance of landscape in social well-being, national identity and sustainable development.

Jury members include Prof. Arch. Giovanni Carbonara (La Sapienza, Rome), Arch. Carmen De Luca (ICOMOS, Naples), Prof. Marco Devecchi (Turin University), and Arch. Francesca Riccio (MiBACT, Rome).

They were received by Dr Stefano De Caro, Director-General, and Maria Teresa Jaquinta, Liaison Officer, Italy.

Donors’ Meeting for World Heritage Leadership Programme

Donors meeting for the World Heritage Leadership ProgrammeOn 7 September, ICCROM hosted the annual donor’s meeting for the World Heritage Leadership Programme with the Norwegian Government.

The World Heritage Leadership programme is a new approach to implement capacity development in support of the World Heritage Convention, based on the long standing partnership of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) and ICCROM, also in collaboration with ICOMOS and WHC and other organizations.

This programme has been made possible with the generous support of the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway and other partners.

Representatives attending the meeting were:

Diplomacy Project

Diplomacy ProjectOn 13 July a group of six international students from the Diplomacy Project, accompanied by Dr Eleonora Maria Stella of CNR – ICVBC, RM Monterotondo, visited ICCROM. They were welcomed by ICCROM’s Director-General, Dr Stefano De Caro, and received a presentation on ICCROM and a Library tour from Paul Arenson, Manager, Knoweldge and Communication Services.
