Prevention in Museums in Africa, 1986 – 2000
PREMA is today a household name in the museums of Africa. PREMA has created an army of
museum professionals in Africa who should confidently be able to manage museum affairs,
collections and the PREMA programme after the year 2000.
National Heritage Conservation Commission, Zambia
My exposure to fellow African colleagues after the years of political isolation in South Africa, has
revealed that a seasoned and authoritative network of skilled African professionals exists with a
shared vision and the ‘know-how’ to sustain the process of upgrading our museums and creating
revived showcases of national heritage - largely as a result of the PREMA programme that has
focused much of this commitment.

Through ICCROM’s Prevention in Museums in Africa (PREMA) courses, African museums have
managed to develop their manpower in conservation and to reorganize their storage facilities.

ICCROM training co-operation with Regional Centres
... the workshop which was organized by ICCROM at ICCI a few years back... was a turning-point
for us because after that the style and technique of teaching was completely changed. It remains
a landmark in the history of workshops organized in India.

3rd International course on Integrated Territorial and urban Conservation, ICCROM 2003.
The course gave me further confidence by reinforcing my belief that urban conservation is possible
even in a developing country... I think, everyone was extremely helpful and, of course, accessible. I
was really amazed by the friendly environment at ICCROM.

Information course on the World Heritage Convention for Palestinian Experts, ICCROM, 2003
We would like to express our appreciation for all the efforts that you have done, we truly enjoyed this course, as it gave us the opportunity to get to know people like you in addition to the fact that it was very useful and enriching. We hope we will stay in touch, we promise we will invest all our energies to accomplish a tentative list for Palestine, and we'll make sure the legislation is applied one day as it is the least we could do for our country and its identity...

International course on flexible materials in Asian collections, Kuala Lumpur 2003
I would just like to say thank you for everything you both did at the workshop in Malaysia. I found the whole experience very enlightening, enjoyable, thought-provoking and stimulating ... I have returned to my work here at the TCC feeling regenerated and with a new enthusiasm for methods of encouraging learning in MA students here...

ICCROM Forum on 'Living Religious Heritage: conserving the sacred', Rome 2003
I just received the ICCROM electronic newsletter and saw the short report on the ICCROM Forum. I cannot tell you how delighted I am that you are doing this. A continuing debate about the ethical and philosophical aspects of conservation is essential if the field is to maintain its relevance to society...
United States of America
I wanted to thank you again for inviting me to the forum, which was an incredibly rich experience to share ideas and learn in the process. The excellent organization provided an ideal environment to make the most of these three days, in which so many cultures and faiths sat at the same table; it was quite exciting to see such a diversity of backgrounds and problems, and yet a common goal, and good dialogue ...

Advocacy through guidebooks
This presentation has allowed new approaches to this issue... I have learnt something... I never thought that cultural heritage was in such danger... All the examples clearly show this. This work is to ICCROM’s credit.

The re-designed ICCROM website, 2002
Your redesigned website is great, quick and easy to use and a very pleasing design. Well done! I wish all websites were like this...

The ICCROM Newsletter
Frankly speaking, I try to glance over all those international conservation magazines quickly, if possible during travelling or leisure time and do not spend too much time on them in general. But I want to tell you that I appreciate your newsletter much more than comparable products by other institutions. It has a design devoted apparently to readability, not so much to changing editorial fashions. Moreover it has a very clear structure, lucid style and serious content... Well, try to live with your own quality standards ...please...
