meeting: group photo Sound and Image Collections Conservation (SOIMA)

A programme design meeting was held at ICCROM from 5 to 7 June with the participation of: New York University; National Archives of Brazil; National Library of New Zealand; Musée du Centre de Recherches et de Documentation of Senegal; Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations; National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago; European Commission on Preservation and Access; and National Archives and Records Administration of the United States.

Mounir Bouchenaki, ICCROM Director-General, opened the meeting and reaffirmed the commitment off ICCROM to archives preservation.

The aim of the meeting was to:

  • share issues, challenges and recent developments in conservation of sound and image collections in various countries and regions of the world;
  • explore the role and focus of ICCROM in the conservation of sound and image collections worldwide;
  • identify research, training and awareness related activities for achieving maximum impact and avoiding duplication of efforts.
