ICCROM-CCI course on preventive conservation: reducing risks to collections

An international course on preventive conservation co-organized with the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) has begun this week at CCI.

The course focuses on the principles of risk management in the field of cultural property, and reviews current interpretations and applications. The twenty participants will practice the systematic stages of risk management in teams, from risk assessment of a real museum to development of options for risk mitigation.

The Course Information Document describes the background, objective, course content and pedagogy. The Course Bibliography contains sources of information for cultural heritage risk management.

The project team is composed of senior staff from ICCROM, CCI, the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage (ICN), the Canadian Museum of Nature, and lecturers from other institutions.

Member States represented: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Finland, France, Mexico, Poland, Romania, United Kingdom, United States and Viet Nam.
