Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General of ICCROM, welcomed the participants of the Sharing Conservation Decisions Course. He expressed his appreciation to the partner institutions for their close collaboration with ICCROM in the preparation of this event. He gave special thanks to the funding institutions: the Institut National du Patrimoine and the Fondazione per l’Arte della Compagnia di San Paolo.

A key note lecture on 'The psychology of decisions' by Prof Nicolao Bonini, Director of the Decision Research Laboratory Department of Cognitive Sciences and Education, University of Trento, opened the course.

An inaugural reception was held in the Carracci Gallery, Palazzo Farnese. The reception was attended by representatives of Member States of ICCROM and Italian conservation institutions. Mounir Bouchenaki expressed his personal appreciation to HE the Ambassador Yves Aubin de la Messuzière for the support given by France to ICCROM training activities and events.
