| ICCROM: 50th celebration
ICCROM will be opening its 50th year celebrations at the IXth Mediterranean Exchange for Archaeological Tourism on 18 November in Paestum, Italy. The event will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the passing at the 1956 General Conference of UNESCO held in New Delhi, India, of Resolution 4.15. This was the resolution that led to the founding of ICCROM as an intergovernmental organization.
Thanks to the generous hospitality of the Mediterranean Exchange for Archaeological Tourism and the administration of the Province of Salerno, the event will be attended by leading figures from the world of cultural heritage and tourism, ICCROM Council Members, and ICCROM staff, former and present.
The Mediterranean Exchange is promoted by the Province of Salerno and the Councillorship for Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Campania Region, with the support of the Ministry for Heritage and Cultural Activities and ICCROM.
Among other goals, the Exchange is intended to promote archaeological sites and destinations, creating integration between different cultures, and to increase cultural events and financial and employment related opportunities.
