The Board of Architects of Guatemala awarded the Order of Roberto Aycinena Echeverría to José María Magaña Juárez , former Architectural Conservation Course participant in 1976 and ICCROM Council Member 1988-1990, for his outstanding work in preserving the architectural heritage in Guatemala, in particular the historic city of La Antigua Guatemala. By conferring the Order of Roberto Aycinena Echeverría, the Board of Architects of Guatemala recognizes individuals who, through their architectural conservation practices make an exceptional contribution to the preservation of the country's cultural heritage. Prof. Roberto Aycinena is one of the leading promoters of cultural heritage preservation in Guatemala, in particular of La Antigua, and has been the mentor of many architectural students in the country.
