Nelly Robles Garcia ICCROM Council Member receives top heritage award

6 December. Dr. Nelly Robles Garcia, ICCROM Council Member, and director of the Monte Alban Archaeological Zone in Oaxaca, Mexico, has been named the recipient of the 2007 George Wright Society Cultural Resources Management Award for excellence in the management of cultural resources and contributions to heritage protection in Mexico and Latin America.

Every two years the George Wright Society, an association of researchers, managers, educators, and other professionals in the field of protected areas management, recognizes excellence in the management of parks, archaeological sites, and other places of cultural significance. For the first time in its history this award has gone to someone outside the United States.

The award will be presented to Dr. Robles Garcia at a banquet during the George Wright Society´s Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota 16-20 April 2007.
