16 January. The first week of the field project in Hanoi focused on team-building and project planning.

The project team initially made an introduction on the roles of ICCROM and SPAFA.  Key concepts, expectations and problems were also discussed. This was followed by a session on communications skills, team working, significance assessment and handling of objects.

The group visited storage and exhibition areas of the National Museum of Vietnamese History (NMVH) and of the Vietnamese Military History Museum. The participants assessed the current conservation condition of the collections.

The week was concluded with a visit to the night market and to Halong Bay, a World Heritage Site in Viet Nam.
