ATHAR: Core Regional Course on Conservation of Heritage Sites in the Arab Region begins

14 June. Under the Patronage of H.E Mr Osama Al-Dabbas, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan, and the auspices of ATHAR Programme, the Second Core Regional Course on Conservation of Heritage Sites in the Arab Region is being held from 10 June-12 July 2007 in Amman, Jordan.
The course is jointly implemented by ALECSO (The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, Tunis), and ICCROM, in partnership with the Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Jordan (DoA), UNESCO-Amman Office, and the Yarmouk University.
Twenty-two cultural heritage professionals from fifteen Arab countries are attending the course.
This one-month course includes theoretical and practical sessions, in a classroom environment and at the archaeological site of Amman Citadel, and with study visits to Madaba and the Desert Castles.

Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen
