The second week of the SOIMA 2007 course, organized at National Archives of Brazil (AN) in Rio de Janeiro, dealt with topics such as: storage and handling of sound and image collections, maintenance of playback equipment, format obsolescence, digital preservation, intellectual property rights and institutional preservation policies.

Activities also included a visit to the Image and Sound Museum in Rio de Janeiro, where participants and the course team surveyed the museum collections, and discussed with the museum staff the pros and cons of digitizing the video collection. The participants then presented their recommendations to the Museum Director.
