Regional course on archaeological conservation for Southeast Europe: Diagnosis and conservation
1 – 26 October 2007
26 October. The third week of the course on archaeological conservation for Southeast Europe being held in the Butrint National Park, Albania, was devoted to conservation proposals and the implementation of treatments of deteriorated structures and decorated architectural surfaces.
The participants produced an initial condition assessment and conservation proposals for the case-studies undertaken on a Roman mosaic, areas within the Roman forum, and a Venetian merchant's house located at the edge of the city.
The proposals included both short-term interventions that are currently being carried out and recommendations for a long-term conservation plan to be included in the Park's current preservation strategy.
