Teamwork for integrated emergency management in South East Europe (TIEM)
Phase I: Workshop, 19 November - 1 December, 2007

21 November. The course on Teamwork for Integrated Emergency Management (TIEM) in South East Europe was inaugurated this week in Ohrid, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in the presence of Mr Aleksandar Petreski, Mayor of Ohrid, Mr Zoran Pavlov, Representative of the Department for Protection for Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Jordan Trca, Director Institute for Protection of the Monuments of Culture and Museum, Ohrid.

Also present were: Jovan Damjanovski, President, the Red Cross of The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; Damir Dijakovic, Programme Specialist in Culture of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe; Mila Zivancevic-Popovic, President of ICOM-SEE; Zaharinka Aleksoska-Baceva, President, ICOM Macedonia; and Krtse Bogoeski, Professor Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University 'Saints Cyril and Methodius'.

The course is part of the ICOM Museums Emergency Programme and is co-organized by ICOM, the Getty Conservation Institute, UNESCO and ICCROM, in collaboration with The National Archives of the Netherlands, ICOM for Southeast Europe the ICOM National Committee of Macedonia.

The first part of the course is a two-week workshop in Ohrid. The purpose is to study and practice the various stages of Integrated Emergency Management from risk assessment and mitigation to emergency planning and response.

There are nineteen participants from nine
national or regional museums.

Member States represented: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia
