Hossam Mahdy

 

 

New Fellow at ICCROM

6 June. Dr Hossam Mahdy has taken up a three-month ICCROM Fellowship from June to August 2007.

Dr Mahdy has over twenty years experience as a freelance architect, researcher and consultant on the conservation of architectural and urban heritage. He has an M.Sc. from the University of Leuven, Belgium and a Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.

He has contributed to the planning for urban conservation in Cairo, Alexandria, Kuwait, Karak (Jordan), Erbil (Iraq), Salalah and Ras al Hadd (Oman). Dr Mahdy is also working currently with the UNESCO Office in Cairo on the conservation and development of the world heritage site of Zabid in Yemen.

The topic of his research at ICCROM is the compilation of an Arabic glossary for terms of conservation of cultural heritage (with equivalents in English and French).
