Giorgio Lombardi 1941-2006
24 January. ICCROM regrets to record that Giorgio Lombardi, a former ICCROM lecturer,
died on 15 December 2006 at the age of 64.
Giorgio Lombardi was born in 1942 in the Italian town of Fascia, in the
region of Liguria (North-West of Italy).
His international career included designing master plans for the town of
Brescia, and for numerous cities of South America, from Cartagena to
Montevideo.
He had a long association with ICCROM, lecturing on the Architectural Conservation Courses (ARC) from
1983 to 1993, covering topics such as the 'Theory and methodology of urban
conservation' and 'Historic centres of Venice and Florence in the context
of World Heritage'.
