2 March. On 20 February 2007, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ICCROM and the Associazione Herculaneum. 

The Associazione Herculaneum is a new organization made up of three institutions, the Comune di Ercolano, the Soprintendenza Archeologica di Pompei, and the British School at Rome.  The first aim of the Associazione Herculaneum is to develop an international study centre (Centro internazionale per gli studi di Herculaneum) to valorize the historic, artistic, and archaeological heritage of Herculaneum. 

The MoU, which was signed by Prof Dieter Mertens, President of the Associazione Herculaneum, and Mr Mounir Bouchenaki, Director General of ICCROM, defines a framework of collaboration between the two parties on a series of activities to be carried out between 2007 and 2009.  Also attending the signing ceremony was Professor Andrew Wallace-Hadrill, Director of the Centro internazionale per gli studi di Herculaneum.
