Herman Kiriama ICCROM welcomes Mr Herman Kiriama

30 April. ICCROM is pleased to welcome Mr Herman Kiriama, an archaeologist with the National Museums of Kenya, who will be joining the secretariat of the AFRICA 2009 programme, as a consultant during 2008-9.

Herman is a Cambridge-trained archaeologist and is currently Head of Coastal Archaeology in the National Museums of Kenya, based in Fort Jesus.

He is also a research fellow at Deakin University, Australia, where he is examining the issue of slave 'Heritage and Memory', using the Shimoni slave cave in the Kenyan South coast as a case study. He has published widely and has been a resource person with AFRICA 2009 since 2002.
