28 November. The ICCROM Council met in Rome from 16-19 November for its 75th Ordinary Session.

The Council reviewed the conclusions and recommendations of the retreat of April 2008 and developed strategic directions for ICCROM. The 2008 Report on Implementation and the Draft Programme and Budget for 2010-2011 were also discussed.

Mr Stefano de Caro, Director General of Archaeological Heritage, Italian Ministry of Culture attended as the new representative of the Italian Government (ex officio member of the Council). Mr Julien Anfrus, recently appointed Director General of ICOM, and Mr Gustavo Araoz, newly elected President of ICOMOS were also present as ex officio members.

Mr Gerald Anderson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, International Organizations Affairs, United States, and Yagi Kasuhiro, Director, Office for International Cooperation on Cultural Properties, Traditional Culture Division, Cultural Properties Department, Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japan attended as observers.

Mr Luciano Marchetti, Direttore Regionale per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici del Lazio, Italy provided an update to the Council on ICCROM's news premises.
