6 March. Don't Tear it Down: Preserving the Earthquake Resistant Vernacular Architecture of Kashmir, by Randolph Langenbach
Prof. Langenbach has worked on Kashmir and traditional construction in earthquake areas for over 25 years. This publication focuses on the historical construction systems of these vernacular buildings in an effort to offset the common belief that these systems are obsolete and inadequate for modern-day life. It is meant to encourage conservation of Kashmir’s vernacular architecture through increased understanding of its scientific and cultural attributes, as well as its earthquake resistant features.

Campi Phlegraei is a firsthand report which documents the late eighteenth century eruptions of Mount Vesuvius. Written by Sir William Hamilton, the British envoy to the Neapolitan royal court in 1764, the work is named for the area around Naples known locally as the Campi Phlegraei or "flaming fields."
