For over twenty-two years, Stanford University Libraries' has served and supported the conservation community by hosting Conservation OnLine.
Sadly, the economic downturn has affected Stanford as it has many other institutions. As a result, Stanford has made the difficult choice no longer to support CoOL. If you have any suggestions on carrying this initiative forward, please contact:

2 June. Help Create an Archive of Photographic Materials from the Pre-Digital Age
Scientists at the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) are creating a reference collection for future generations of photo conservators and scholars. They are soliciting donations from the general public of old photographic papers, film, negatives, and prints, so as to build an archive of knowledge and materials from the era of classical chemical-based photography.

An international collaborative effort involving corrosion scientists
and conservators. So far, the booklet, is very popular with non-conservators,
conservators, community museum staff and museum/conservation educators and
consultants.

In 2008, the GCI identified a number of Conservation Collection books to include in the Getty Research Institute's Internet Archive Digitization Project. The materials selected for digitization relate to the history of technology -- specifically pre-twentieth-century artists' recipe books. To date, nearly half of the 200 titles selected from the Conservation Collection have been digitized, cataloged, and made available for free online.
