Visiting Fellow at ICCROM
1 June. Dr Shivashish Bose, a former ARC94 course participant from India, is now at ICCROM until the end of June as a visiting fellow.
Dr Bose, an architect, urban designer and conservationist is currently Associate Professor, Department of Architecture of Jadavpur University, Kolkata. During his stay at ICCROM he will work on ‘Conservation as an element of urban design and a tool for sustainable development’.
Dr Bose, holds a Master Degree in Urban Design and a PhD in Engineering from Jadavpur University. His doctoral research topic was 'Conservation as an Element of Urban Design and a Tool for Sustainable Development in Asian Cities: Case Study – Kolkata'. He furthered his conservation and urban design training at the Ecole d’Architecture in Paris, France.
At present, he is also conservation consultant to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and has surveyed about 70 listed historic buildings for developing the management plan. Dr Bose is an active member of the Executive Committee of the Centre for Built Environment (a non-profit society doing research on conservation and environmental issues) in Kolkata.
