23 September. Prof. Tomás de Albuquerque Lapa, from Brazil, has arrived at ICCROM as a visiting researcher for six months (September 2009 - February 2010).

Prof. Lapa, an architect and urban planner, from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), holds a Master in Urbanism from the University of Paris VIII - Vincennes.

At present, he is coordinator of the post-graduate program in urban development at the UFPE, and he also has been coordinator of the Centre of Advanced Studies on Integrated Conservation.

While at ICCROM, he will be carrying out a research project on 'monitoring and control of the process of urban integrated conservation: the case for Public Participation Geographic Information Systems (PPGIS)'.
