2 December. From 18 - 20 November, the Director-General participated in the 2009 Edition of the Mediterranean Exchange on Archaeological Tourism (BMTA) in Paestum, Italy. He also met H.E. Mr José António de Melo Pinto Ribeiro, Minister of Culture of Portugal; Italian authorities; and Mr Ugo Picarelli, Director of the Borsa.

2 December. The Director-General was invited to give the opening lecture at the Second UNESCO World Heritage Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction to Cultural Heritage, 14-17 November, Acre, Israel.
