Obituary
Claude Volfovsky 1942 - 2009
14 May. It is with great sorrow that ICCROM has learnt that Claude Volfovsky, a long-time collaborator and friend of ICCROM, has passed away in France on 12 May
2009, aged 67.
Claude taught chemistry in the PREMA 1990-2000 programme. Always attentive
to the participants, he made this frequently challenging subject accessible and engaging.
Claude was also well known and beloved by generations of students at the MST of Conservation-Restoration at Paris I University, as he taught there for almost 20 years. He was also the Director of the laboratoire de Recherches des Monuments Historiques in the early 1990s, before definitively joining the university -- first as a Professor and then as Director of the MST. He leaves numerous articles and books in French on metals conservation and archaeometry.
