Workshop on Cultural Heritage: Conservation and Communication, Paestum, Italy
19 November 2010
24 September. ICCROM is collaborating on a workshop on the theme, Cultural Heritage: Conservation and Communication (CCULT_COM), to take place during the International Meeting of Archaeological Publications at the XIII Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico, Paestum, Italy. This international workshop will address issues regarding the potential that effective communication has in enhancing and conserving cultural heritage.
The objective of this event is to examine the current status and trends of communication applied to cultural heritage, taking into account the increasing possibilities made available by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
Contributors will offer their expertise and reflections on selected Italian and foreign case studies, exploring how and why communication strategies are necessary for cultural heritage. Speakers are invited to discuss means and tools for evaluating the ways that messages regarding the conservation of our common cultural heritage (as well as its meaning, values, threats and possible dangers, and national/international responses) are currently conveyed to the general public, as well as their effectiveness.
The XIII Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico is an international forum to promote archaeology and archaeological destinations as well as cultural dialogue.
The event will be held at Paestum, Salerno, Italy, at the exhibition area of Hotel Ariston, on Friday, 19 November 2010, from 15:00 to 19:00.
