Ces images forment le point central de l'exposition "Le Arti di Piranesi, architetto, incisore, antiquario, vedutista" (architecte, graveur, archéologue, paysagiste), dans les nouvelles salles de la Fondation Giorgio Cini, sur l'île de San Giorgio Maggiore, à Venise.

Le Hollandais Rem Koolhaas, sans doute l'architecte le plus célèbre au monde actuellement, a obtenu le Lion d'or de la Biennale de Venise (Le Monde du 27 juillet et du 31 août). Il y présente avec lucidité et causticité une exposition intitulée "Cronocaos" sur la question du patrimoine, un terme qu'il n'utilise ni n'écrit, pour lui préférer celui, plus actif, de préservation.
