Mexico City, Tabasco and Chiapas, Mexico
27 September. From 4 - 10 August the Director-General, Mounir Bouchenaki, undertook a mission to Mexico at the invitation of Lilia Rivero, ICCROM Council Member.
On 5 August, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Director-General of ICCROM and the Director-General of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH), Alfonso de María y Campos, at the INAH headquarters in Mexico City to reinforce collaboration within the framework of the LATAM programme. Also present at the event were former Council Member for Mexico, Nelly Robles Garcia, and former ICCROM staff and current LATAM coordinator for Mexico, Valerie Magar. The signature of the MoU was followed by a visit to the Museum of the Templo Mayor.
On 6 August, a workshop was organized at the Escuela Nacional de Conservación, Restauración y Museografía (ENCRyM) on the Programa LATAM ICCROM-México and was attended by a large number of conservators and restorers from INAH.
The final part of the mission was dedicated to a two-day sites visit in the provinces of Tabasco and Chiapas. Restoration works were visited in Comalcalco, Bonampak, Yaxchilan and Palenque.
