Manama, Bahrain
From 19-20 December, the Director-General, Mounir Bouchenaki participated in the 1st annual meeting of World Heritage related Category 2 Centres and concerned UNESCO Chairs and Higher Education and Research Centres, which took place in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The meeting aimed at defining the role that Category 2 centres play in the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in general and the World Heritage Capacity Building Strategy in particular.

Algiers, Algeria
From 11-15 December, the Director-General, Mounir Bouchenaki traveled to Algiers, Algeria. He visted the National Museum of Antiquities and Bardo Museum in Algiers, and met with Mr Mourad Bouteflika, Director of Cultural Heritage for the Ministry of Culture, Prof Andrea Bruno, Politecnico di Torino, Ms Houria Cherid, Director of the National Museum of Antiquities, and Ms Habbache, Deputy Director of Museums, among many others.
During his visit, the Director-General attended the international Euromed Heritage workshop, "Strengthening education and training for careers in the Mediterranean heritage: a priority step for human and economic development of the region".

On 4 December, the Director-General, Mounir Bouchenaki, participated on behalf of ICCROM in the HERITY 2010 international conference on, "Observing Cultural Heritage:
Evaluating the State of Conservation and communicating it to the Public". Also present at the meeting were:
