Communication and Web Administrator (P-2)

ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) was founded in 1956 by UNESCO. As an intergovernmental organization with 129 Member States, its mandate is to raise the level of conservation of cultural heritage
worldwide. It provides technical advice and information, professional education and carries out training and research work. It gathers, interprets and shares information on cultural heritage preservation and promotes conservation activities.
The Organization is currently looking for a candidate to its position of
Communication and Web Administrator P-2 located in Rome.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Manager, Knowledge and Communication Services, the incumbent of the post will:
- ensure the introduction and implementation of high quality standards in the area of publications, communications and web presentations in English and French;
- prepare promotional and information material and facilitate networking via the web;
- develop and maintain information on the website;
- prepare, edit, manage and distribute documentation;
- cooperate with other staff of the Organization to ensure interdisciplinary approach;
- perform other related duties as required.

Essential Qualifications
Advanced University degree in a discipline relevant to ICCROM’s work, such as Archaeology, Architecture, Urban Planning, Heritage studies, Museum studies, Art history, Conservation or Communication, supplemented by advanced IT knowledge in multimedia tools and their applications for web publishing and administration. Excellent knowledge of English and of one of the working languages of the Organization: French, Spanish, Italian.
Selection criteria
Relevant work experience with printing, publishing, paper and web-based communication. Awareness of conservation issues is desirable.
Proficiency in computer graphics and web development techniques and tools such as HTML, CSS, and Content Management Systems (CMS) in particular Joomla. Multimedia and office applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Pinnacle, as well as Microsoft Office Tools.
Excellent drafting and editing ability. Knowledge of Italian is desirable.
Terms and benefits
The Communication and Web Administrator will be appointed for an initial period of two years, with the first year being probationary, and will be resident in Rome. The post carries a yearly salary correlated with the United Nations personnel system level P2/01, currently corresponding, after post adjustment for Rome, at net €53,341 (without dependents) and net €56,869 (with dependents) per year. In addition, there are various allowances such as annual family allowances for eligible children and, for internationally recruited employees only, annual education grants, reimbursement for the cost of shipment of personal effects, home leave for staff members and dependents every three years and a repatriation grant at the end of the contract. The salary and allowances are net of taxes but subject to various deductions such as for medical insurance and contributions to the United Nations Pension Fund.
