22 November.The ICCROM Council met in Rome from 3-5 November for its 78th Ordinary Session.

During the meeting, policies, matters regarding Member States, and the role of science at ICCROM were reviewed. Council Members also listened to reports by staff on programmes and activities, and the Programme and Budget for the next biennium was discussed.

Following a report on the ICCROM premises by Council Member Zhou Lu, a site visit was organized to the new headquarters, which are currently undergoing renovation.

On the evening of 4 November, a memorial ceremony was held to commemorate the lives and achievements of Giorgio Torraca and Andrzej Tomaszewski, two important figures that the conservation community recently lost. Tributes were made by:

• Maurizio di Stefano, President, Italian ICOMOS Committee
• Zhou Lu, ICCROM Council Member, who read a message on behalf of Guo Zhan, Vice President of ICOMOS
