Christina Huemer Obituary
Christina Huemer 1947 - 2010

1 December. ICCROM is saddened to learn of the death of Christina Huemer on 12 November 2010, after a long and determined struggle with cancer. As assistant librarian from 1985 to 1988, she touched the lives of many course participants and staff members with her friendship and professional competence.

After completing undergraduate study at Mount Holyoke College in the United States in 1969, she went on to earn a Master’s degree in both Library Science and Art History. She first came to ICCROM in 1985, pursuing a dream of living in Italy. She worked at ICCROM as assistant librarian.

After three years at ICCROM, she decided to branch out and worked independently for some time in Florence, and later became the Drue Heinz (senior) librarian at the American Academy in Rome, where she remained for 15 years until illness forced her retirement.

An extensive tribute to her can also be found on the website of the American Academy in Rome.

The international cultural heritage community wishes to extend our condolences to Christina’s family and colleagues in the United States and Rome.

Former Head of Publications
