19 December. My mandate as Director-General of ICCROM comes to an end in a few days and I would like to share with you the great honour that it has been for me to work, throughout these past six years, with my colleagues at the service of an intergovernmental institution involved in the training and study of the preservation and restoration of cultural property.

The relations established with Member States, their governmental and non-governmental organizations specialized in the field of the conservation of cultural heritage, have been extremely enrichening and have contributed to expanding the framework of the bilateral and multilateral exchanges and cooperation.

I wish to express to all of ICCROM's partners, and in particular to all colleagues with whom I have had the pleasure to work during these six years in Italy and in all the regions of the world, my most sincere gratitude and thanks.

Il mio mandato come Direttore Generale dell'ICCROM si conclude in pochi giorni e vorrei condividere con voi il grande onore che è stato per me lavorare, in questi ultimi sei anni, con i miei Colleghi al servizio di un'istituzione intergovernativa coinvolta nella formazione e nello studio della Conservazione e del Restauro del Patrimonio Culturale.

Le relazioni instaurate con gli Stati membri, le loro organizzazioni governative e non governative, specializzate nel campo della Conservazione del Patrimonio Culturale, hanno accresciuto e valorizzato il nostro lavoro e hanno contribuito ad ampliare il quadro degli scambi bilaterali e multilaterali e la cooperazione culturale in genere.

Desidero esprimere a tutti i partner dell'ICCROM, e in particolare a tutti i colleghi con i quali ho avuto il piacere di lavorare durante questi sei anni, in Italia e in tutte le regioni del mondo, la mia più sincera gratitudine ed un ringraziamento speciale.
