Several Approaches to the Conservation of Art Made with Different Materials
4-5 October 2012, Vatican City

1 August. On 4-5 October 2012, the 2nd Sharing Conservation International Workshop will take place in Vatican City, organized by the Laboratorio Polimaterico dei Musei Vaticani.

This workshop will bring together conservation professionals from around the world to discuss the importance of ethnographic heritage as a tool to promote cultural identity and intercultural exchange. Participating in the sessions will be Baba Keita, Director of the Ecole du Patrimoine Africain, and Catherine Antomarchi, Collections Unit Director, ICCROM.

Topics to be addressed at the conference include:

  • Characteristics of ethnographic collections
  • Technological innovations, relations between science and conservation
  • Sustainable conservation and restoration
  • Responsibilities of ethnological museums

Presentations will be given in Italian and English. Simultaneous translation will be available.
