2013 ICCROM Forum on Conservation Science
15 November.
On 2-3 November the first planning meeting was held for the next ICCROM FORUM 2013 which will be on Conservation Science. For this Forum ICCROM has adopted a very different approach to its planning and organization in comparison with past Fora. For the first time the ICCROM Forum is being organized as a collaborative effort by a Consortium of 14 partner institutions, all of which are prestigious conservation and research institutes from various member-states of ICCROM.
The meeting was attended by representatives of all 14 partners, and proved to be an intense and productive day and half of group work and plenary debates to scope the goals, themes and structure of the Forum, which is now scheduled for October 2013. In the coming months, a phase of surveys and data collection will start, involving institutions, conservation scientists and conservation science users. The aim is to build an evidence-based picture of what is happening in the field of conservation science, and gather indicators of its impact in the field.
