Council Bureau meeting and visit to new headquarters
23 April. On 16 April the ICCROM Council Bureau convened in Rome for a two-day meeting to discuss the organization’s ongoing activities, as well as the Programme and Budget.
During the meeting and at the request of Grellan Rourke, Chairperson of the Council, a visit was organized to the former Convent of San Francesco a Ripa. This building complex is currently undergoing rehabilitation in view of becoming ICCROM’s future headquarters.
Members of ICCROM staff at the site visit were Stefano De Caro, Director-General; Bruno Pisani, Manager of Administration and Finance; Maria Teresa Jaquinta, Liaison Officer (Cooperation with Italy); Joseph King, Director of the Sites Unit; Pietro Baldi, Head of Logistics; and Sabina Giuriati, Information Clerk and ICCROM photographer.
The visit to the new premises gave the Bureau the opportunity to view first-hand the work that is being carried out under the supervision of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiBAC), and see for the first time the spectacular cistern discovered under the site.
The visit was led by Gabriella Belli and Alessandra Di Matteo, the architects in charge of the rehabilitation works. Also representing MiBAC was its Secretary-General, Antonina Pasqua Recchia, whose presence reinforced the Ministry’s commitment and generosity in providing ICCROM with this new space.
The Council Bureau consists of Grellan Rourke, Chairperson; Marián Del Egido, Vice Chairperson Administration; and Isabel Raposo De Magalhães, Vice Chairperson Planning.
