ICCROM Forum on Conservation Science
How does science research influence conservation practice, and vice versa?
How is the research agenda decided?
What is the relevance of conservation science to wider social priorities?
What will be the future challenges in conservation, and what sort of science will these require?
28 February. From 16-18 October 2013, 60 professionals from different disciplines and contexts within the heritage field will meet in Rome to consider these and other questions, and reflect on future directions for science in cultural heritage conservation. This event is organized by a consortium of 16 organizations which have joined with ICCROM to carry this project forward.

Making it Evidence Based
To support reflection on the current situation, the Forum has to be evidence based. Over the coming months, we will be gathering information concerning research trends and strategy development; dissemination and access to information; education and training; and the practical impacts of science within conservation.
Also, we want to hear from as many voices as possible, to feed the Forum debate through the experiences and opinions of those working within the field. Over the next months we will be regularly posting discussion questions and opinion polls about the role, relevance and impact of science within conservation.
