Ernesto Samper Pizano On 28 April, Mr Ernesto Samper Pizano, former President of Colombia, Mr Yuri Chillán, International Coordinator for the VII Biarritz Forum 2006, and Ms Esperanza Anzala, Counsellor, Embassy of Colombia, visited ICCROM. They met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and Valerie Magar, Conservation Specialist, to discuss ICCROM participation in the Biarritz Forum 2006 on identity and integration.

Bruce Berton On 26 April, a delegation from the Herculaneum Conservation Project visited ICCROM to discuss further collaboration with ICCROM. The visitors included Prof. Andrew Wallace-Hadrill, Project Director and Director of the British School in Rome, Jane Thompson, Project Manager, and Sarah Court, Project Research and Outreach Coordinator. They met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, Joe King, Sites Unit Director, and Valerie Magar, Conservation Specialist.

José Luis Montalva On 20 April, José Luis Montalva and Manuel Jesús Ramirez of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain, visited ICCROM. They met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and Valerie Magar, Conservation Specialist. They presented and discussed the launching of an international Masters programme on world heritage cities which they are leading in collaboration with several universities worldwide.

Bruce Berton On 20 April, Bruce Berton, Alternate Permanent Representative Mission of the United States of America to the UN Agencies for Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), visited ICCROM. He met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General. He announced his departure from Rome and expressed his great satisfaction for the collaboration between USA and ICCROM.

Neal Putt On 20 April, Neal Putt, former ICCROM staff, visited ICCROM. He met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and described his former work at ICCROM when he was in charge of the Programme for the Pacific Region (PREMO). At request of the Director-General, he agreed to put his experience at the service of ICCROM.

Fabrizio Ago On 13 April, Fabrizio Ago, expert, member of the Inspection, Monitoring and Verification Unit (Unità d'Ispezione, di Monitoraggio e Verifica), Directorate General for Development Cooperation, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited ICCROM. He met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and discussed the current state of development of initiatives in the conservation of cultural heritage in the Mediterranean basin.

Mary Margaret Muchada On 13 April, H. E. Mrs Mary Margaret Muchada, Ambassador of Zimbabwe in Rome, and Mr Tendai Nhekedza, Alternate Permanent Representative, Embassy of Zimbabwe, visited ICCROM. They met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and Weber Ndoro, Porject Manager, AFRICA 2009. They discussed ICCROM's activities in Africa, in particular the AFRICA 2009 programme and ICCROM's support to the new initiatives by UNESCO and the African Union to establish the African World Heritage Fund to be launched in May 2006.

Paolo Del Bianco On 12 April, Paolo Del Bianco, President of Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation and Francesco Civita, Japanese Section of the Stibbert Museum, visited ICCROM. They met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General and discussed insitutional collaboration possibilities. The Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco is active in creating awareness of the conservation of cultural heritage in countries of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia.

Rocco Mazzeo On 12 April, Rocco Mazzeo, former ICCROM staff, visited ICCROM. He met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and discussed possible collaboration between the University of Bologna and ICCROM. A proposal for a joint study on aspects of Chinese cultural heritage was also reviewed, an area where Prof Mazzeo has particular experience.

Zhang Xinsheing On 7 April, a delegation of authorities from Chinese cultural institutions, lead by Mr Zhang Xinsheing, President of the Executive Board of UNESCO and Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, visited ICCROM. Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General and Bruno Pisani, Manager of Finance and Administration, welcomed them and gave them a tour of ICCROM premises including the Library and Laboratory. Afterwards, they also visited the Roman Forum and the Capitoline Museum.

Ray Bondin On 6 April, Ray Bondin, ICCROM Council Member since 2002 and Executive Coordinator Rehabilitation Projects Office in Malta, visited ICCROM. They discussed various aspects of ICCROM activities and a proposal for strengthening institutional collaboration, in particular with the Sicilian region (Parco dell'Etna).

He met with Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and Maria Teresa Jaquinta, Italian Government Development Co-operation Co-ordinator.
