On 23 May, a delegation of ten Iraqis working in various areas of
conservation visited ICCROM. The delegation was accompanied by Roberto
Parapetti of the Centro Ricerche Archeologiche e Scavi di Torino.
They were welcomed by Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and listened to
presentations on ICCROM's work given by Joe King (Sites Unit Director),
Zaki Aslan (ATHAR Programme Coordinator) and Aparna Tandon, Programme
Specialist, Collections Unit. Following the presentations they were given
a tour of the library and the laboratory.

On 3 May, a delegation from the Science and Technology Committee of the
UK House of Lords visited ICCROM. The delegation comprised: Baroness
Margaret Sharp of Guildford (chairperson of the subcommittee), Lord Swraj
Paul, Baroness Jennifer Hilton of Eggardon, and Lord Alec Broers. They
were accompanied by Professor May Cassar, Specialist Adviser to the
Committee, Jennifer Smookler, clerk from the House of Lords, and Mr Ashley
Prime, First Secretary at the British Embassy in Rome.
They were welcomed
by Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, Bruno Pisani, Manager of Finance
and Administration, Catherine Antomarchi, Collections Unit Director,
Rosalia Varoli Piazza, Senior Conservation Adviser, José Luiz Pedersoli,
Research Scientist, Valerie Magar, Conservation Specialist, and Ernesto
Borrelli, Laboratory Coordinator.
The delegation is part of a subcommittee which is examining the role of
science, engineering and technology in the conservation of the United
Kingdom's cultural heritage. The subcommittee is looking at the use of
science in monitoring the condition of buildings and objects of cultural
importance, at the application of scientific and engineering techniques
to conservation, and at the ways science and technology can enhance
public understanding of and access to cultural objects.

On 3 May, a group of twelve students from the American University in Rome, who are studying Museum Management, visited ICCROM. They were accompanied by Prof. Vicky Kynourgiopoulou, Archaeologist, Cultural Heritage Management Consultant,
Department of Art History, American University in Rome.
Mounir Bouchenaki, Director-General, and Catherine Antomarchi, Collections Unit Director, welcomed the group and gave them a brief presentation on ICCROM and the work of
the Collections Unit.
