Closing of the ATHAR Course in Jordan
31 August. The Second Core Regional course on Conservation of Heritage Sites in the Arab Region was concluded with an official closing ceremony on 12 July 2007 in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Osama Al-Dabbas, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan. |

Course for Iraqi professionals in Jordan
30 August. In response to a request by the UNESCO Office of Iraq in Jordan ICCROM contributed, within the framework of its ATHAR Programme, to training sessions of twelve Iraqi professionals on communication skills and presentation of archaeological sites to the public. |

Earthquake in Peru
20 August. In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Peru on 15 August 2007
which caused an appalling loss of life and destruction, the
Director-General and Staff of ICCROM extend their deepest condolences to
the people and government of Peru which have been so disastrously
affected by the loss of lives.
ICCROM wishes to assure its friends and colleagues in Peru that it
remains ready to provide assistance to those responsible for protecting cultural heritage.

Forum 2007: Privatisation and Cultural Heritage
2 August. Since the announcement of the Forum, ICCROM has received many enquiries about participating in the event. As well as the scientific papers, there will also be opportunities to send in comments on your experiences, insights, and reflections on 'Privatisation and Cultural Heritage' and to present posters. |
