Helping Uganda: AFRICA 2009 network seeks solidarity
23 March. Following the fire on 16 March that destroyed the main building of the Kasubi Royal Tombs at the World Heritage Site in Uganda, many messages of support have circulated worldwide from heritage professionals. |

23 March. Veronica Bullock, Australian former course participant on Scientific Principles of Conservation (SPC88), is undertaking a fellowship at ICCROM until mid-June. |

Fire in Uganda
17 March. In the aftermath of the devastating fire that destroyed the Kasubi Tombs in Uganda on 16 March 2010, the Director-General and Staff of ICCROM extend their deepest feelings to the international community, the government and the people of Uganda for the destruction of this World Heritage Site.

First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict: planning a new course
2 March. From 24 – 26 February, an interdisciplinary group of professionals met at ICCROM to lay the groundwork for a pilot training project on first aid to cultural heritage in times of conflict. |

Earthquake in Chile
1 March. In the aftermath of the strong earthquake that struck Chile
on 27 February, the Director-General and Staff of ICCROM extend their deepest condolences to the government and people of this country who
have been disastrously affected by the loss of lives and the destruction
of property. ICCROM is ready to offer assistance to our Chilean colleagues
and those institutions responsible for protecting the cultural heritage
within the affected areas.
