The Renaissance Française awards the Director-General
22 April. The Renaissance Française has awarded the Director-General the gold Médaille du Rayonnement Culturel for his longstanding contribution to promoting tangible and intangible cultural heritage. |

The Ministry of Culture of Luxemburg contributes € 22,000 to the EPA Fund
21 April. ICCROM is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Culture of Luxemburg has made a generous contribution of € 22,000 to the EPA Fund. The amount raised for the fund has now reached € 2,409,240. |

Obituary
14 April. It is with great sadness that ICCROM has learnt of the passing of Bruce Craig. He spent his career at the Smithsonian, beginning with an internship in 1973 at National Museum of American History. In recent decades, Mr Craig has been a mainstay of the Smithsonian's Center for Education and Museum Studies where he was Research and Planning Director. |

Earthquake in China
14 April. In the aftermath of the strong earthquake that struck western China
this morning, the Director-General and Staff of ICCROM extend their deepest condolences to the government and people of this country who
have been disastrously affected by the loss of lives and the destruction
of property. ICCROM is ready to offer assistance to our Chinese colleagues
and those institutions responsible for protecting the cultural heritage
within the affected areas.

Condolences to Poland
13 April. Director-General and Staff, would like to express their deepest condolences to the government and people of Poland in light of the plane crash last Saturday that took the life of President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Maria, and the Deputy Minister of Culture, Tomasz Merta.

New Director of DIBAM, Chile
6 April. The Director-General is pleased to announce that Council Member, Magdalena Krebs, has been appointed as the new Director of Dirección de Bibliotecas, Archivos y Museos (DIBAM), Chile. ICCROM wishes her the very best in these challenging times post earthquake. |

New Director of EPA
6 April. ICCROM is pleased to announce that staff member, Baba Keita, has been appointed as the new Director of the Ecole du Patrimoine Africain (EPA). Baba, a former PREMA participant, has been working at ICCROM since 2005 and at present is Project Manager of AFRICA 2009. |

Staff departure
31 March. Mr Ken Kanai, an architect and engineer working for the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs has just completed a two-year secondment at ICCROM. |
