Tropical storm Agatha
1 June. In the aftermath of the strong tropical storm that has struck El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, the Director-General and Staff of ICCROM extend their deepest condolences to the government and people of these countries who have been disastrously affected by the loss of lives and the destruction of property. ICCROM is ready to offer assistance to our Central American colleagues and those institutions responsible for protecting the cultural heritage within the affected areas.

International Museum Day
17 May. On 18 May, International Museum Day: Museums for social harmony is being celebrated all over the world. The event provides an opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and alert them to the challenges that museums face if they are to be - as in the ICOM definition of museums - 'an institution in the service of society and of its development'. |
