21 December. ICCROM is saddened to learn that María Jesús San Segundo, former Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Kingdom of Spain to UNESCO, passed away on 17 December 2010. |

21 December. Abdellatif El Hajjami, celebrated teacher, architect, and pioneer of conservation and urban rehabilitation in Morocco, left us on 14 December 2010 after a long illness. |

Latin American Course on the Conservation of Modern Architecture (MARC_AL 2011)
14 December. This course will assist professionals in facing the challenges of conserving modern architecture in the Latin American context. It will combine theory and practice through distance learning lectures, in-situ lectures (in Brazil), group work, and study tours. This edition of the MARC-AL will be in Portuguese. |

ICCROM Consultant wins Icon Conservation Award
7 December. On 1 December, the Institute of Conservation (Icon), United Kingdom, presented ICCROM Consultant Simon Lambert with the Student Conservator of the Year Award for his project on the carbon footprint of museum loans. |

Multisensory trail to the archaeological site of Herculaneum
1 December. The Herculaneum Centre has produced a free downloadable guide to a multisensory trail for the site. This offers a new way of visiting Herculaneum that is suitable for blind and partially sighted visitors, but may also be of interest to anyone wanting a different experience of the ancient city. The guide is already online in Italian – French and English versions will be available soon. |
