Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand
22 February. In the aftermath of the earthquake that shook the southern New Zealand city of Christchurch, the Director-General and Staff of ICCROM would like to extend their deepest condolences to the government and people of this country. ICCROM is saddened by the tragic loss of lives and destruction of property, including Christchurch Cathedral, and wishes to express its solidarity to those responsible for protecting cultural heritage. |

Message on Egypt's missing cultural objects
15 February. Following an inventory check by the staff at the Egyptian Museum, Dr Zahi Hawass, State Minister of Antiquities of Egypt, publicized this weekend a list of eight objects currently missing from the museum, including the gilded wood statue of Tutankhamun being carried by a goddess. |

ICCROM's collaboration with the United Arab Emirates
10 February. The Director-General of ICCROM, Mounir Bouchenaki, was received last month by H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah, in order to consolidate support for the ATHAR Programme and its efforts in the Arab region. |
