Obituary
18 March. Claude Daniel Ardouin, curator and Head of the Africa Section at the British Museum, first Director of the new National Museum of Mali, former Executive Director of the West African Museums Programme (WAMP), and Founding Member of International Council of African Museums (AFRICOM), has passed away. |

Conservation of Japanese Paper international course (JPC)
17 March. Given the recent events in Japan, many prospective course participants have written to express their concern about applying to JPC and to offer support to Japanese colleagues. For the time being, the plans for organising the course in Tokyo will remain unchanged and the course application deadline remains 31 March 2011.

Obituary
15 March. ICCROM is saddened to hear of the recent passing of Dr Donny George Youkhanna, Iraqi archaeologist and teacher, and former Director of the Iraq National Museum. |

Earthquake and tsunamis in Japan
11 March. Following the shocking news of the earthquake and tsunamis that have struck Japan, the Director-General and staff of ICCROM extend their deepest sympathies to the victims of the disaster and to the Japanese government. ICCROM wishes to assure its friends and colleagues in Japan, and the other countries along the path of the tsunami, that it remains ready to provide assistance to those responsible for protecting cultural heritage.

Romiri Project 2011 - International Workshop on Architectural Conservation, Zakynthos, Greece
10 March. Diadrasis is pleased to announce its first international workshop on Architectural Conservation for young professionals. The workshop is organized in agreement with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the University of York, and under the patronage of ICCROM. It will take place from from 15 September to 15 October 2011. |

The Cultural Heritage and Risk Management programme of the Research Center for Disaster Mitigation of Urban Heritage, Ritsumeikan University (Rits-DMUCH) is pleased to announce its 6th International Training Course on Disaster Risk Management of Cultural Heritage. It will be held in Kyoto and Kobe, Japan from 10 to 24 September 2011. |
