23 November. On Friday 28 October, the International Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict came to a close. Participants received their certificate at an inspiring farewell celebration in the presence of all ICCROM staff. |

Herb Stovel Wins the ICCROM Award
18 November. Professor Herb Stovel was the recipient of the 2011 ICCROM Award. The ICCROM Award is given in recognition of special merit in the field of conservation, protection and restoration of cultural heritage, and for making an important contribution to the development of ICCROM. |

New Member State
15 November. ICCROM is pleased to announce the adhesion of Iraq as a new Member State as of 14 November 2011. The adhesion of Iraq brings the number of ICCROM Member States to 130. |

12 November. The General Assembly of the Member States of ICCROM will be held in Rome at the headquarters of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), from 14 to 16 November 2011. |

ATHAR Review meeting draws to a close in Sharjah
12 November. The ATHAR Programme recently concluded a review meeting, held to discuss the activities of the specialist course on the Conservation and Management of Organic Materials in Heritage Sites and Collections, which took place last spring in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. |

Alissandra Cummins Elected Chairperson of UNESCO Executive Board
12 November. The Director-General of ICCROM, Mr. Mounir Bouchenaki, and his staff would like to congratulate Alissandra Cummins on her election as Chairperson of the Executive Board of UNESCO. Ms. Cummins is the Director of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society and is a former President of the International Council of Museums and former rapporteur of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. The Director-General and staff look forward to continuing to collaborate with Ms. Cummins in her new capacity. |

Torrential Rains and Floods in Liguria
4 November. In response to the torrential rains on the coast of Liguria that have severely affected the World Heritage cultural landscape of the Cinque Terre, the Director-General and Staff of ICCROM extend their deepest condolences to the Italian government and the people living in the flood zone, who have been so disastrously affected by the loss of lives and the destruction of property.
