My mandate as Director-General of ICCROM comes to an end in a few days and I would like to share with you the great honour that it has been for me to work, throughout these past six years, with my colleagues at the service of an intergovernmental institution involved in the training and study of the preservation and restoration of cultural property.

ICCROM congratulates Ms Géraldine Albers for receiving the rank of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from the French Minister of Culture, Frédéric Mitterrand, in recognition for her contribution to cultural heritage as a historian of restoration and conservator of murals and paintings. Ms Albers is a former participant of the 1985 Mural Painting Conservation course (MPC) at ICCROM.

16 December. ICCROM’s ATHAR programme assisted in the implementation of a one-week workshop in Bethlehem, from 11-14 December 2011.

14 December. Our latest Newsletter/Annual Report is now available for downloading. This issue features the activities that were carried out by ICCROM over the last year, including our many worldwide courses, exciting new projects such as RE-ORG, updates of our interns and fellows, and much more.

14 December. ICCROM, through its ATHAR programme, contributed to a one-week workshop for the capacity building of professionals working at World Heritage sites in the Arab States.

8 December. On 5 December, a two-week course started in the city of Zacatecas, Mexico. This course aims to discuss management approaches to World Heritage properties in Latin America.

5 December. A training workshop on Disaster Risk Preparedness and Management was held from 19-24 November 2011 at the World Heritage site of Berat, Albania.
