Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict (FAC 12)
25 September. Eighteen participants from 17 countries have gathered at ICCROM to attend the third international course on Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict. The course aims at building capacity for cultural heritage protection in conflict afflicted areas of the world.

Reducing Risks to Cultural Heritage - International Meeting 2012
13 September. In recent years, ICCROM, the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI), and the Netherlands Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE, formerly ICN) have developed and disseminated the risk management approach for cultural heritage field. This has included six joint training initiatives since 2005. For 2012, they have partnered again to hold an international meeting, which will be open to all those interested in risk management. This meeting is organized by the RCE. |

Seventh World Archaeological Congress
12 September. The Seventh World Archaeological Congress will be held at the King Hussein Convention Center at the Dead Sea, Jordan from 14 – 18 January 2013.

Activities of the Director-General
11 September. Stefano De Caro began the month of June (4-7) with a mission to Cambodia, upon the invitation of the Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA). There he participated in the 21st Technical Session of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor. |

30 August. Italo Insolera, noted Italian city planner who helped devise the current appearance and presentation of Rome, has died. He was 83 years old. |

International exchange on archaeology and tourism
28 August. From the 15-18 November the XV Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico will take place in Salerno, Italy. Held under ICCROM patronage, this international exchange aims to promote archaeology and archaeological destinations as well as cultural dialogue. The event will include the participation of private and public cultural organizations, archaeologists and tourist operators from around the world. |

Martos Project workshop begins
21 August. On 20 August, an international workshop was launched in Martos, Spain on stone conservation and urban regeneration. This workshop, held under ICCROM patronage and in collaboration with the non-profit organization Diadrasis, is aimed at graduates and young heritage professionals. |

Earthquake in Iran
13 August. Following the devastating twin earthquakes near the city of Tabriz in the northwest of Iran, causing loss of life and damage to this rural area, the Director-General and staff of ICCROM extend deepest condolences to the government and people of Iran.
