International exchange on archaeology and tourism
23 October. From the 15-18 November the XV Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico will take place in Salerno, Italy. Held under ICCROM patronage, this international exchange aims to promote archaeology and archaeological destinations as well as cultural dialogue. The event will include the participation of private and public cultural organizations, archaeologists and tourist operators from around the world. |

New Intern at ICCROM
12 October. ICCROM has recently welcomed Anna Maria Kotarba-Morely from Poland, who will be carrying out an internship in Rome and in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates at the ATHAR Regional Centre.

10 October. The course on Cultural Heritage Protection in the Asia-Pacific Region: research, analysis and preservation of archaeological sites and remains, concluded on 4 October at the Cultural Heritage Protection Cooperation Office, Asia-Pacific Cultural Center for UNESCO (ACCU Nara Office) in Japan.

First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict: participants' perspective
4 October. The first week of the course has been an excellent opportunity for dialogue between participants and the course team. One the first day, the ICCROM team presented the organization, its mandate and explained how the FAC 2012 course aligns with the institutional goals and strategies.

CALL4TRAINING: International Virtual Heritage School
2 October. V-MUST (Virtual Museum Transnational Network) in cooperation with ICCROM, is organizing the first International Virtual Heritage School, 12-17 November in Paestum, Italy. The topic of the course is Virtual Museums, Communication and Digitization. Grants will be awarded to certain applicants. Application deadline: 10 October 2012.

Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict (FAC 12)
25 September. Eighteen participants from 17 countries have gathered at ICCROM to attend the third international course on Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict. The course aims at building capacity for cultural heritage protection in conflict afflicted areas of the world.

Reducing Risks to Cultural Heritage - International Meeting 2012
13 September. In recent years, ICCROM, the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI), and the Netherlands Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE, formerly ICN) have developed and disseminated the risk management approach for cultural heritage field. This has included six joint training initiatives since 2005. For 2012, they have partnered again to hold an international meeting, which will be open to all those interested in risk management. This meeting is organized by the RCE. |

Activities of the Director-General
11 September. Stefano De Caro began the month of June (4-7) with a mission to Cambodia, upon the invitation of the Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA). There he participated in the 21st Technical Session of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor. |
