ICCROM and the Ministry of Culture of Colombia are pleased to announce a new publication in Spanish available for free download: Introduciendo a los Jóvenes en la Protección del Patrimonio Cultural y los Centros Históricos. Una guía práctica para maestros en Colombia [Introducing Young People to Heritage Site Management and Protection: A Practical Guide for Secondary School Teachers in Colombia].

25 January. As part of the recent 7th World Archaeological Congress (WAC-7) held 14-18 January 2013 in Jordan, the ICCROM-ATHAR Regional Conservation Centre in Sharjah co-organized with the University of Vienna a congress theme entitled “Archaeology as a Target: Preservation and Heritage Identities in Times of Conflict”.

16 January. ICCROM is pleased to welcome Carla Pianese from Italy, who will be carrying out an internship at ICCROM through April 2013.

14 January. Through of the Sound and Image Collections Conservation Programme (SOIMA) and the SOIMA International Courses, an international community of professionals in charge of audiovisual collections around the world has steadily grown.

14 January. ICCROM is pleased to welcome Andrea Martínez Moreno from Colombia, who will be carrying out an internship for the LATAM programme through February 2013.

10 January. On October 31, a conference on management and conservation of photographic collections (CO-MA) will be held by the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (IRPA-KIK) in Brussels, Belgium.

10 January. ICCROM recently collaborated with ICOMOS and the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria (DGAM), in coordination with UNESCO, to hold an e-learning course for Syrian cultural heritage professionals from 7 to 8 January 2013 at the Damascus National Museum. The course was led by the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness (ICORP).

4 January. From 3–15 December 2012, the course “Lebanese for Lebanon: when cultural heritage aims for peace” brought together a group of professionals committed to making a difference in protecting the valuable and rich cultural heritage of their country.

28 December. The 4th Regional course on Conservation and Management of Heritage: Sites and Museum Collections concluded its study visit with a farewell event held at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar.

12 December. We are pleased to present the digital version our most recent publication in the ICCROM Conservation Studies series: ICCROM and the Conservation of Cultural Heritage. A history of the Organization’s first 50 years, by Jukka Jokilehto. Years in the making, this organizational history documents how ICCROM evolved together with the development of conservation and restoration as a profession.
